Dear Real Estate friends,
Have you ever wondered why 30 km/h zones are springing up like mushrooms in the lakeside municipalities? Have the civic-dominated municipal councils recently adopted a green policy? The reason for this is that the municipalities are facing new challenges in connection with “access standards” as a result of residential densification. Not only the accessibility of residential areas, but also traffic safety must be guaranteed, so that one- and two-sided sidewalks and road widening threaten to lead to densification. The sustained slowing down of traffic solves these problems in one fell swoop, so that 30 km/h zones are now often used instead of road widening to comply with access standards.
The situation is different again in the city of Zurich, where 30 km/h zones are being created because of noise limits. Furthermore, traffic policy arguments are used to force traffic to stop.
With best real estate regards
