– The three most expensive destinations in the Alps are St. Moritz, Gstaad and Verbier.
– In France and Austria, holiday home prices have continued to rise in recent years, while they have corrected in Italy and Switzerland.
– Long-term social changes – demographics, travel behavior and generational change – are impacting demand for vacation apartments.
When buying a vacation home, the emotional decision is often the main consideration, while investment considerations tend to be of secondary importance.
However, thoughts of long-term wealth preservation or the possibility of renting out the apartment during the high season are also often
taken into account when making a purchase decision. This report analyzes the most expensive vacation rental markets in the Alpine region using a wide range of
indicators. Other Alpine destinations in Switzerland are also being examined.
