Open Doors Engadin 2024: A weekend full of architectural discoveries

A weekend full of architectural discoveries Open Doors Engadin once again invites you to discover architectural gems in the Engadin on June 29 and 30, 2024. This year, Celerina and Pontresina are sponsoring the ambitious project as patron municipalities. Under the motto "Architecture for all", Open Doors Engadin will provide insights into over 80 buildings for the third time, including the Art Nouveau Villa Klainguti and Hotel Maistra 160 in Pontresina. We are proud that we can once again make a significant contribution to the success of this great architectural event as a partner.

Communicating architecture and raising awareness

The aim is to give interested parties access behind otherwise closed doors for a weekend. As an educational program, Open Doors Engadin thus contributes to anchoring knowledge about architecture and its significance for the development of our living spaces in the public domain. The event is also intended to promote dialog between experts and laypeople, between building users and those interested in architecture, between residents of the region and visitors, and to enable everyone to participate in the public debate.

“We are delighted that Open Doors Engadin continues to enjoy growing popularity. The positive response and the commitment of the building owners to open their doors to architecture enthusiasts is overwhelming. It is impressive to see how intensively visitors engage in conversation with the architects and owners and how joyfully they share the cultural and architectural heritage of the Engadin and Bergell, creating a dynamic interaction,” explains Christoph Oggenfuss, co-initiator of the event and president of the non-profit association behind it.

Explore buildings independently or with special guided tours

Visitors have various options for experiencing Open Doors Engadin. They can select individual buildings via the gallery, the timetable or the interactive map on the Open Doors Engadin website and visit them according to opening times. In addition, guided architecture walks are offered in the villages of the Upper Engadine, each of which takes a closer look at up to five buildings.
The third offer is the Open Doors Specials, which include themed tours of outstanding architectural personalities. Opening times, guided tours and additional information on the individual buildings can be found at www.opendoors-engadin.org, with links to Google Maps that lead directly to the destination “turn by turn”.

With the help of various filters, visitors can put together an individual tour by marking their favorite program points. The program will be published in mid-May and updated on an ongoing basis. Many tours have a limited number of places and reservations can be made from the end of May. The visits, guided tours, walks and specials are free of charge for all participants in the interests of promoting architectural discourse.

Architecture walks in St. Moritz to be won

When the doors of over 90 architectural gems open, we’ll be there again. And we are giving away two places each for the two architecture walks in St. Moritz on June 29 and 30, 2024. Simply write an email with the subject “Architecture walk” to graubuenden@ginesta.ch by June 21, 2024. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you.

(Please note the conditions of participation.)
