The second edition of the free architecture event was an impressive success: the atmosphere ranged from good to exuberant and there was consistently enthusiastic feedback from visitors. Among other things, the wide range of offers, the expert guided tours and the successful organization were very well received. The 91 buildings, outdoor spaces, themed tours, architecture walks in nine villages and supporting events attracted a total of 4,700 visitors. Many events were fully booked long in advance. Motivated architects, experts and volunteers completed 270 guided tours in two days.
The architecture aperitif on Saturday evening, which took place this year at the Hotel Grace La Margna, was also very well attended. It was a preview, so to speak, as the legendary art nouveau hotel will reopen in the course of the summer following its Renovation: People interested in architecture met in the elegant ambience of the bar to exchange ideas. Christian Jott Jenny, mayor of this year’s patron municipality of St. Moritz, explained in his speech: “Open Doors Engadin is already an event that we can no longer imagine life without”.
As a regionally anchored Real Estate marketer, Ginesta supported this important architectural event again this year. For Ginesta, it was clear from the very first edition that Open Doors Engadin is an important event that absolutely must be supported. After all, the buildings that surround people have a decisive influence on the quality of a region, and in the Engadin and Bergell, we can be really proud of what was once built, what is being built today and what will be built in the future, for example with the InnHub La Punt – which, incidentally, is also one of the properties at this year’s event.
This year, four lucky winners of the Ginesta competition also had the opportunity to take part in the SPECIAL Hartmann and Hartmann tour, which has been fully booked for a long time. The old school building in St. Moritz, which was built in 1886 by local architect Nicolaus Hartmann Sen. has an eventful history. Today, the building houses the St. Moritz library and the secondary school. The two-hour tour was accordingly very impressive and entertaining.
“
The visitors were thrilled by the uniqueness of each individual tour, the warmth of the residents and the diversity of the architecture. We would like to thank the ODE organizing committee for the successful organization and are already looking forward to the next Open Doors Engadin in June 2024.”
