What still inspires you about your job today?

I’m a Real Estate enthusiast. Through and through. There’s hardly a style of architecture that doesn’t interest me. Whether ultra-modern, historic, or traditional, every property has its own character.

What fascinates me even more, though, are the people behind it all. Of course, the markets have changed. Brokerage has become more digital, and many things are done differently today than they were at the start of my career. What has never changed are the people and their stories. Behind every property lies a life story. I often accompany people through a phase of change. That’s what keeps this profession exciting for me to this day.

You often say that real estate is, above all, about people. What do you mean by that?

When people think of real estate, they often think first of buildings, numbers, and contracts. In reality, it’s often about something entirely different. I remember many conversations that went far beyond a simple sales contract. There were afternoons when I sat at the kitchen table with homeowners and could hardly leave because they just wanted to talk. Sometimes it even turned into a long evening with a good bottle of wine on the table.

In our line of work, we meet people in all kinds of life situations. In those moments, I’m not just a real estate consultant—I listen, mediate between family members, or help them find a solution together.

Trust plays a major role in Sales. How do you earn that trust?

Trust isn’t something you can earn; it’s built through honesty, respect, and genuine interest. This applies just as much to the property as it does to the people who own it. Most owners of existing properties don’t choose the real estate agent with the most attractive presentation, but rather the one they trust. That’s why a sales process rarely begins with a signature, but rather with a conversation.

In addition to the greater Zurich area, you also know the Engadin very well. What does this region mean to you?

Over the years, the Engadin has become an important part of my life. The people, the culture, and the landscape all have a very special character. This is true for locals as well as for those with second homes here and vacationers. Anyone who spends time in the Engadin on a regular basis quickly realizes that many things work a little differently here than in other regions. Many property owners appreciate that I not only know the region from a professional perspective but also have a personal connection to it.

The real estate industry is undergoing major changes due to digitalization and artificial intelligence. What are your thoughts on this?

I’ve always been curious and open to new developments. Sometimes, personally, all these new applications and possibilities move a little too fast for me. Still, I find it fascinating how we’re constantly evolving. I’ve noticed that I’m more in tune with technological developments today than ever before. And I always enjoy learning new things. Artificial intelligence helps us simplify processes and work more efficiently. For me, it’s not at odds with humanity. On the contrary. Thanks to its efficiency, it gives me more time for what I love doing most: meaningful, person-to-person conversations.
