Once again, I would like to draw your attention to an administrative court ruling relating to the protection of the townscape. Some residents in a district of Zurich () have filed a complaint against the rezoning of the area from a three-storey to a four-storey residential zone. While the building appeal court rejected the application, the administrative court has now upheld the complaints. The residents had complained that the interests of the inventory of Swiss sites worthy of protection, in short:  ISOS, had not been given due consideration.

The ruling is not yet legally binding and the last word on the matter has not yet been spoken. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that the ISOS will have a considerable influence on construction activity in the city and also in the Agglomeration. Even the townscapes of vacation regions are to be protected, so that the desired densification will also be hindered there. The state planning instrument is greatly underestimated.
