Floor Area Ratio
This ratio indicates the maximum intensity of use permitted for a parcel of land. For example, a W2/25 zone allows a property owner with a 1,000 m² parcel to construct 250 m² of living space on the two main floors.
So the number 25 stands for 25%. It is advisable to consult the local building code in detail.
Depending on the municipality and canton, floor area ratio may be interpreted as HNF, GF, or BGF.
