The Schloss Eugensberg is sold.

In consultation with the creditors' representatives, the Bankruptcy Office of the Canton of Thurgau sold Schloss Eugensberg including its inventory and all associated properties - with the exception of two smaller agricultural properties located on the periphery - to the interested party with the best offer on 1 March 2019.

The proceeds from the sale of Schloss Eugensberg will, as was awarded by the court, flow into the Rolf Erb bankruptcy estate and benefit the creditors. The parties have agreed not to disclose any details of the sale.

The buyer is 38-year-old Christian Schmid, who together with his wife wants to take up residence in the castle for the next decades. The Schmid couple currently lives in Central Switzerland and works primarily in the IT sector. The buyer wants to preserve and maintain the current inventory of the castle.  The sold possessions also include the park, the forest, the agricultural land with the manor, the hamlet and Sandegg Castle as well as the bathhouse at Untersee. The hiking trail over the Sandegg with its viewing platform will remain accessible for hikers. The buyer is aware of the special importance of this entire property and wants to preserve it as much as possible.

This solution is welcomed by both the Salenstein municipal council and the responsible representatives of the canton and all necessary permits have been obtained. Martin Wenk, the responsible head of the Thurgau bankruptcy office, and Matthias Hotz, the Frauenfeld lawyer, the creditor's representative, are pleased that they have succeeded in finding a good solution with this successful sale of Schloss Eugensberg in good cooperation with the commissioned estate agent Ginesta Immobilien AG.

The buyer Christian Schmid states (quote): "It fills us with joy and reverence that we can be proud owners of one of the most beautiful properties in Switzerland. We are aware of the responsibility that such a property entails and will do everything in our power to guarantee Schloss Eugensberg a quiet, secure and long-term future. We are looking forward to living in Salenstein soon. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all those involved for their highly professional handling".
