Location

Politically speaking, Champfèr belongs in part to St. Moritz and in part to Silvaplana. To the south of the village is the Lej da Champfèr, while the area to the north is the Lej da Silvaplauna. A little way to the east of Champfèr are the two tiny lakes of Lej Marsch and Lej Nair. The village of Champfèr itself is characterized by its compactness, whereas Suvretta, slightly to the north-east, largely consists of large holiday homes and hotels and has a high density of development.

Public transport connections

Champfèr is reachable in a good 3 hours from Zurich main station. The train will take you as far as St. Moritz, from where there is a bus connection in the direction of Maloja covering the last 10 minutes of the journey.

Schools

The primary school is in the community of Silvaplana, while the secondary school is in the neighboring community of St. Moritz. A school bus conveys children safely to and from school in Silvaplana.

Leisure activities

Winter

Snow-kiting on the frozen lakes, rocking the pistes on the Corvatsch, discovering new routes among up to 150km of prepared cross-country trails, enjoying a walk along one of the countless winter paths or exploring the region in snow-shoes – there is certainly no excuse to be bored in winter.

Summer

Even in summer there are lakes to tempt you out to take advantage of the dependable Maloja winds for a spot of wind or kite-surfing or sailing. Or simply go fishing and enjoy the wonderful spectacle of nature in the Upper Engadine. Apart from all that, there are the magnificent panoramic hiking trails and ancient Roman bridle paths, making it a real El Dorado for bikers and walking enthusiasts.

Shopping

The „Butia pitschna“ (Rhaeto-Romanic dialect meaning „corner shop“) has everything you need on a daily basis.

Restaurants and hotels

Champfèr has a small but nonetheless high quality selection of hotels and restaurants. The Talvo restaurant is world-famous, as is the Hotel Giardino Mountain.
