Interview with Mirjam Fehr, Head of Marketing Winterthur

Dear Mirjam, how are you today?

The excitement is at its peak and I am very happy. Now the time has come and we have opened the eighth Ginesta store in a prime location in Winterthur. After all the effort we have invested here in recent months, this is a great moment.

After Ginesta opened two branches last year, you should be in practice by now. Isn’t that business as usual?

Of course, we benefit from the experience of other openings, for example in the choice of furnishings, the necessary technical infrastructure and the implementation of marketing measures. These are the usual tasks that are coordinated and implemented by our first-class marketing and office management team. However, it was much more challenging for us to be ready with the right team in Winterthur from day one. After all, the real estate sector is no different to any other industry: Finding specialists with the right training and experience is one thing. Finding people who fit together and share the same values is another. This is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and we have succeeded so far.

Tell us a bit more about you and your team.

When Ginesta decided to open an office in Winterthur and was looking for a manager for this role, I quickly realized that I was the perfect fit. I was able to win over the management with three factors. The many years of real estate experience with continuous further training, the fresh approach to opening up the new market area and probably not least the fire that burns inside me (laughs). A trust for which I am very grateful. I also think it’s important to emphasize how professionally and in a structured way I was introduced to the high quality standards and processes at the head office in Küsnacht over the course of six months. The fact that I was then able to recruit two ideally qualified employees for our team, Alice Zurflüh as a real estate consultant and Nhu Ai Duong as a marketing assistant, is of course a stroke of luck.

Does that mean your team is complete and you’re ready?

Yes, we are complete to start with and because we have been preparing together for several months, we are already a well-rehearsed team that also harmonizes perfectly on a personal level. And yes, we all approach the task with a lot of drive, so we may soon need additional reinforcements. If this challenge appeals to you, we are always on the lookout for talented people.

That sounds like a perfect starting position. But hand on heart: as a team of three, will you really be able to handle all mandates properly?

I can guarantee that without blushing. The cross-branch collaboration was another good reason for me to pursue my career with Ginesta. For example, we have access to the relevant competence centers for extensive new construction projects or complex first lettings of newly built residential and commercial estates. For professional valuations, we work together with our valuation desk and, thanks to New Work, our colleagues from all specialist areas can work from any location or from home. Thanks to modern software solutions, we even benefit in the assistance area from the fact that tasks end up in a pool that can be processed by all offices as required. This modern form of collaboration not only ensures stable quality standards in all regions and access to all our specialists, but is also a lot of fun. Everyone is in close contact with the team and that keeps us together, we are pursuing a vision. I have to say that Ginesta achieves truly exceptional things because everyone is a professional and the organization is fully geared towards making the most of these strengths.

Nevertheless, I assume you will want to make your mark on your job. What are you looking forward to the most?

I am a natural-born networker and my goal is to quickly become a respected part of Winterthur’s business landscape. This includes, for example, establishing the right sparring partners, participating in city life and being seen as a company.

Last but not least, a personal question: What is your favorite place in Winterthur?

Our new offices of course, they are just perfect and you can see them from afar (laughs). Seriously, I’m a passionate cyclist and like to spend my free time on a racing bike, mountain bike or BMX. Winterthur is the most bike-friendly city in Switzerland, which you can feel in everyday life: easy transportation throughout the city, always a little extra exercise and fresh air without polluting the environment. This is exactly my lifestyle and also the best way to keep rediscovering the city with its charming neighborhoods, countless green oases and diverse architecture. When summer comes, I’m already thinking about organizing a Ginesta branded bike – that way I can kill two and sometimes even three birds with one stone.

Thank you very much Mirjam for taking the time for this pleasant interview. We wish you and your team every success.

Caption: Ginesta Team Winterthur with Mirjam Fehr – Head of Marketing, Nhu Ai Duong – Marketing Assistant, Alice Zurflüh – Real Estate Consultant

Mirjam in an interview

Shortly after the opening of the Ginesta office at Bahnhofplatz 18 in Winterthur, we took the opportunity to talk to Mirjam Fehr, Head of Marketing.
